Is it just me, or do big box retailers stink to high heaven?
That was a theoretical question by the way. Yes, they are the worst. These chains have gotten so big that they have forgotten their most important asset, the customer.
Now, I’m not saying that every employee at every big box retailer is a relentless, anti-customer service jerk. There are plenty of nice people working at these stores. What I am saying is that in my experience, the majority of the time, that is not the case.
Let's explore a few reasons you should skip the big guys and shoot over to the pawn shop instead shall we?
At the pawnshop… the customer is king!
Customer service is key to any successful small business. It is the goal at the pawnshop to be a place where you can find incredible deals on great items, and get some cash when you need it, fast!
If the shop can help, we will. So, rather than waiting for items you need now to go on sale next month, come on by the shop and see what we can make happen today!
Let’s see Wally World offer that kind of customer service... I don’t think so.
smaller is better…
Well, at least some things anyway.
Get your mind out of the gutter and focus people!!!
Did you know that the average Target store is 130,000 square feet? Did you know that Target’s annual revenue runs between 52 to 75 Billion Dollars?
That’s billion...with a B.
Did you know that Target pays their employees an average of 12 Dollars per hour? Look, I’m not trying to pick on Target, I actually kind of like it.
What I am saying is that those big stores, big numbers, and low wages are a recipe for not looking out for the average Joe. I am all for a business being successful, but when big business gets greedy, it hurts our wallets and fills theirs. Small business is the way to shop!
let’s imagine.
You walk into a larger retailer and bring some of your old gold jewelry to the customer service desk. You ask the scowling associate how much they will pay for it. I mean, you have 10 grand worth of scrap gold, surely they will buy it.
The associate looks at you like you have grown a second head.
Okay, let's get back to reality. That’s a totally dumb scenerio and no one would ever do that. You're lucky to get a refund on a jacked up pair of underwear that you bought five minutes ago. But the pawn shop would be happy to make you an offer on your scrap gold jewelry any day of the week. Plus we offer a 3 Day warranty on a lot of items.
Unfortunately we don’t sell underwear so you will have to deal with lackluster customer service when it comes to your unmentionables.
cash that check!
The pawn shop does their best to cash as many of your checks as possible!
It’s very often that other businesses, including banks, send people to the shop to cash their checks.
“Why is that?”, you may ask.
Well, to make a long story short, when you are dealing with a big bank or an enormous chain store with a teller or cashier that makes $12 an hour if they are lucky, there is nothing in it for them.
Your check is a bigger headache than they are willing to deal with. Small businesses, including the pawnshop, still have something to gain from treating people with care and respect.
bringing it home.
There is no better place to Christmas shop than at the pawnshop!
In all reality, we will all walk the lonely, boring isles of another big box store again in the future. We need food, we need clothes etc.
But, don’t forget that small businesses such as the pawn shop still treat our customers like family. Small business is the way to go when possible so make sure to take advantage of all the pawn shop has to offer. Whether it’s making some cash for gold, pawning or selling an item to make some quick money when you need it most, or cashing that check that no one else cares to cash. We’ve got your back.
Come on by and lets see what we can do for you.
